The headquarters of Sartorius

The Sartorius Group is a leader in international laboratory and process technologies in the biotechnology and mechatronics segments. The company was founded in 1870 and its headquarters are in Goettingen. Since 2011, the headquarters have been moving to a new site based on a project by the architectural studio Bünemann & Collegen, which designed the “Sartorius Campus” for an expansion that covers a good 16 hectares. The project has won the 2018 German Design Award in the "Communications Design-Architecture" category, and will be finished in 2020.

The lighting design for the central atrium integrates lighting devices with an architecture that features an enormous skylight in the ceiling. Palco spotlights are installed in bases pointing downwards, on the side with steel planks that give movement to the ceiling and have a specific RAL finish.

The relaxation spaces, in which the coloured furnishings add a playful tone, have soft, diffused lighting thanks to the Laser Blade recessed lamps that uniformly illuminate the walls, while the Reflex recessed lamps illuminate the ground. The lighting design was also defined in accordance with the Sartorius company philosophy, which proposes a profound connection between sustainability, joy and openness; concepts that are widely shared by the Bünemann & Collegen architectural studio. A comfortable and pleasant environment, which has sprung from collaboration and values shared by the client, architect and lighting designer.
