Conference with Louisa Hutton
In collaboration with the MAXXI (National Museum of XXI Century Arts) in Rome, we bring both emerging and well-known international architects to Recanati to share the topics, themes and contexts which define their professional careers. The conferences, titled LightOn, are held in our Auditorium and at the MAXXI in Rome. Past guests have beenAtelier Bow Wow (Tokyo), Snøhetta (Oslo-New York), Sergei Tchoban (Berlin), Smiljan Radic (Santiago de Chile), MVRDV-Winy Maas (Rotterdam) and David Adjaye (London-New York). Participation is open to the public and training and professional credits are recognized for students of various Architecture, Design and Engineering institutes, andfor members of the Architect’s Association of Macerata.
On November 24th 2016 Louisa Hutton, founding partner of Sauerbruch Hutton, will be our guest.
Louisa Hutton was a visiting professor at Harvard Graduate School of Design. She previously taught at the Architectural Association in London and was external examiner at various universities in the UK. She is a member of the Curatorial Board of the Schelling Architecture Foundation, and was a Commissioner at CABE and a member of the Steering Committee for the Germany’s Federal Foundation for Baukultur. Louisa is a Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and a Royal Academician of Arts. Louisa Hutton and Matthias Sauerbruch received the Erich Schelling Prize for Architecture in 1998 and the Fritz Schumacher Prize for Architecture in 2003, the International Honour Award for Sustainable Architecture in 2010 and the Gottfried-Semper-Architekturpreis 2013. For the Immanuel Church in Cologne Sauerbruch Hutton was awarded the German Architecture Award 2015. Sauerbruch and Hutton gained international renown for their early engagement with sustainability in architecture and urbanism. Their office is best known for the Brandhorst Museum in Munich (2009), the Federal Environmental Agency in Dessau (2005) and the GSW Headquarters in Berlin (1999), both of the latter presenting case studies of sustainable design for working environments. Sauerbruch Hutton currently has projects under construction in various European countries, among which the M9 Museum for the 20th Century in Venice-Mestre.
