The Löwen pharmacy is located in Neuruppin, in the house where the German poet, writer and pharmacist, Heinrich Theodor Fontane was born. After its recent refurbishment, the building now has a contemporary look accentuated by the warm inviting atmosphere of its dark wood interiors. The furnishings are essential and transmit a sense of neatness and order. This mood is reinforced by the lighting system, which is based on recessed Laser Blade luminaires in both 5-cell High Contrast and 10- and 15-cell Adjustable versions. These luminaires in no way interrupt the visitor’s overall view of what is on the shelves. The lighting designer wanted perfect vertical illumination that would create clean homogeneous lighting and absolutely no cone effects on the shelf-free walls. To highlight the pharmacy’s purpose, the lighting scheme has a 4000K colour temperature with a different colour rendering index (CRI95) in order to create a clear contrast between the dark furnishings and the light, or even bright colouring of the pharmaceutical packages on the shelves. Another newly illuminated area is the short corridor that connects the pharmacy counters to the back office area featuring a portrait of Theodor Fontane. 10-cell adjustable recessed Laser Blade luminaires have been used to illuminate both the portrait and the wall with the pharmaceutical drawers in order to avoid any unwanted reflections. To facilitate lighting management, three scenarios have been defined: "Open for Business", "Closed" and “Night Service", while the lighting in the store windows operates independently with a twilight switch and timer.
