About Project
The Farah Medical Campus was founded in 1977 by the now deceased Dr. Zaid Kilani. It is located in Amman, Jordan. In addition to offering a medical ecosystem composed of various facilities, including obstetrics, gynaecology and assisted reproduction, as well as paediatrics, neonatology, plastic surgery and monitoring, radiology and anaesthesia services, the name Farah has always been a byword for groundbreaking hospital design. A constant element in the architectural style adopted is that of combining contemporary materials, such as glass and aluminium with traditional building materials, like wood and local stone.
This means that the architecture also expresses Farah’s capacity for innovation and its consolidated experience in providing medical assistance. This decision is based on the firm conviction of the clinic’s owners and management that a carefully designed environment helps obtain the best therapeutic results.
Doctor Sanad Z. Kilani was directly involved in the recent extension of the Farah Medical Campus. He combined his real passion for architecture with his natural understanding of medical spaces based on his daily experience of life as a doctor.
iGuzzini contributed to the lighting of the linear, highly functional and welcoming environments in this new space.
The luminaires blend into the architecture, providing a soft, modular light without standing out. In the entrance hall and waiting rooms, the pendant iN60 light lines attract attention to the reception desk and guide patients and visitors along the corridors where the pendant lighting is integrated with Deep Laser recessed luminaires.
In the windowed sections that join the different areas of the Campus, Laser Blade L recessed luminaires have been installed in lines between the air conditioning grills and this continues inside the patients’ rooms. In the in-patient area there are various waiting and relaxation areas with sofas, armchairs and small tables lit by Reflex recessed luminaires. Once again with a view to patients’ hospitality and well-being there is also a small gym in an open area with a wooden false ceiling on which iRoll ceiling luminaires have been installed in a geometrical grid pattern.
On the ground floor of the building there is an ample food service area. This is a welcoming space with light finishes and a few touches of colour, where doctors, patients and visitors can eat something or enjoy a quick break with a coffee. Low lighting levels are provided here by Laser Blade luminaires inserted in the wooden false ceilings. There is also a veranda with a few tables, where Laser Blade InOut luminaires have been used to create continuity between the indoors and outdoors.
Architectural quality, comfort-driven solutions and innovative medical therapies combine to make Farah Hospital a groundbreaking centre aimed at achieving the total well-being of patients and those close to them.
